Anderson, IN – Police say a woman lied about an attack at a state park and had actually set up a meeting with a juvenile as part of her “rape fantasy.”

Maggie Wallace, 19, reported to police that she was attacked at 12:45 p.m. July 3 at Mounds State Park while she was jogging. Wallace told police she saw a male standing alone on the trail who was acting suspicious, according to WXIN-TV.

Wallace said she tried to get away from the male but he knocked her down and then groped her. Wallace said she fought back and punched and scratched her attacker in the face, according to the Herald Bulletin. A witness nearby saw the attack and ran over to help and called 911.

The Herald Bulletin reported that the Madison County Sheriff’s Department used credit card information to track down a 17-year-old male who met Wallace on an app called “Whisper.” The 17-year-old said the two had conversations on the app and agreed to meet at the state park, according to WXIN.

The juvenile said he responded to a post from Wallace who said she was looking for someone to fulfill a “rape fantasy.”

The 17-year-old saved screenshots of the conversation with Wallace on his phone and gave them to the police. The screen shots of the conversations corroborated his version of events that happened at the state park.

When police confronted Wallace during a follow-up interview, she initially denied the new information but then eventually admitted to it, according to WXIN.

“While this is extremely frustrating, on several levels, I am very proud of the work our Detective Division performed,” Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger said, according to WXIN.

Wallace was arrested for false informing, which is a Class A misdemeanor. She was held in jail with a $3,000 bond.
