Hampton, NH – A Massachusetts teenager set herself on fire in the back of a police cruiser on Saturday night, and then kicked an officer in the crotch at the police station.

Police said 19-year-old Jeante Driscoll of Leominster, Massachusetts came into contact with officers at about 10:30 pm on Aug. 18 when they spotted her hanging out near the Kennebunk Savings Bank on Winnacunnet Road, according to the Hampton Patch.

Officers said Driscoll appeared to be trying to conceal herself, and they gave her a warning and told her to find someplace else to be, NECN reported.

When officers returned to the area of the bank a short time later, Driscoll had had returned.

They ordered her to leave the area, but she flatly refused. So police attempted to take the young woman into custody, the Hampton Patch reported.

Driscoll became agitated, resisted arrest, and fought being put into the back of the police car, according to NECN.

"Officers placed her in custody … Driscoll became agitated during the arrest and struggled to get into the cruiser," Hampton police said in a statement, according to the Hampton Patch. "While being transported to the Police Station Driscoll managed to light her clothes on fire. The Officer transporting her pulled the cruiser over and had to remove her from the vehicle and roll her around on the ground in order to extinguish the flames."

She was treated for injuries by the Seabrook Fire Department at the Hampton police station, and then transported to Portsmouth Hospital.

There was no information available regarding her condition or the extent of her injuries, NECN reported.

While Driscoll was at the police station, she kicked an officer in the groin, NECN reported.

Driscoll was facing charges of criminal trespassing, loitering, and assault by prisoner for attacking the officer.

She was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail and was due back in the 10th Circuit Court in Seabrook for her arraignment on Oct. 2, according to NECN.
