New Port Richey, FL – A Florida woman was arrested after police discovered she brought drugs with her for jury duty at the West Pasco Judicial Center on June 25.

Kristine Mittler, 39, set off an alarm during the security screening at the entrance to the courthouse complex, according to the Bradenton Herald.

It turned out that Mittler was trying to go through the metal detectors at the security checkpoint with two folded foil packets in the pockets of her cargo pants, and she set off alarms, police said.

The potential juror was searched and the two packets, which turned out to be filled with cocaine, were found.

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies also found a straw in Mittler’s possession that tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the Bradenton Herald.

Police said the foil packets held a 0.6 grams of cocaine, and the arrest report said that Mittler admitted the drugs were hers and said she had forgotten they were in the pocket of her pants when she reported for jury duty, WTSP-TV reported.

She was arrested by Pasco County sheriff’s deputies and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, WFLA reported.

Mittler was taken to the Land O’Lakes Jail and was held on a $6,000 bond, according to the Bradenton Herald.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office made it clear that at the time of her arrest, Mittler had not yet been chosen to serve as a juror in any trial.

At that point she was still waiting to find out if she had been selected to serve on a jury, the Bradenton Herald reported.

Social media was abuzz with posts of people who were shocked and amused by Mittler’s apparently stupidity. Some even offered words of wisdom to the woman.

“Free legal advice: 1) Don’t do drugs! 2) If you insist on doing drugs, don’t take them to the courthouse!” an attorney named John Ceci from Michigan suggested on Twitter.
