Morristown, TN – A Tennessee woman is facing multiple charges after she intentionally ran over a police officer with her car on Sunday afternoon, leaving him seriously injured.
The incident occurred when Morristown Police Corporal David Klein responded to the scene of a domestic disturbance on July 8 at a property that Connie Jeanene Davis was refusing to leave, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
Cpl. Klein attempted to pull Davis from her car so that he could arrest her, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.
That’s when Davis intentionally accelerated in reverse, knocking Cpl. Klein to the ground. She ran over him, the Morristown Police Department said in a news release.
Other officers were able to take Davis into custody while Cpl. Klein was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
The officer suffered head and leg injuries, and underwent surgery on Sunday evening, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Cpl. Klein’s condition was not known on Monday but his injuries were believed to be non-life threatening, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Davis was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and disorderly conduct, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.
She remained in jail in lieu of a $300,000 bond, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.
