Troy, MI – A woman who refused to leave her boyfriend’s home ended up grabbing an officer’s gun and punching him in the face.

Sylvia Verellen, 33, of Roseville, was reportedly intoxicated at about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 24 when a man called police saying that Verellen was his girlfriend but would not leave the house, according to WDIV.

Verellen ate her boyfriend’s earrings, and was not cooperative when police showed up.

Officers tried to escort her out of the house but Verellen resisted, WDIV reported.

Verellen had to be carried out of the house and then kicked officers with her legs, the Troy Police Department said in a press release posted on its Facebook page.

Once officers got Verellen out of the home, she started to fight back again and tried to grab at one of the officer’s holstered gun, police said. Police then took Verellen to the ground so she wouldn’t get control of the gun. She hit one police officer in the left side of the face with a closed fist. She was then arrested and placed in handcuffs, WDIV reported.

While she was put in the patrol car, she spit at one of the officers. Once police got her to the lockup facility, she struck a police service aide twice with a closed first, according to WDIV.

While she was being booked, she told police she ate the earrings and had to be taken to the hospital to have them removed, WDIV reported.

The earrings were retrieved. The manner of retrieval was not disclosed.

Verellen was charged with hindering and obstructing a police officer, aggravated assault and battery of a police officer and assault and battery of a police officer, according to WDIV. She was arraigned on Monday and was in custody with bail set at $2,000.
