Silver Springs, FL – An 18-year-old woman attacked a mother and her 11-year-old daughter in a seemingly random attack at a Florida gas station on Sept 22.
The incident was captured on video (below.)
An 18-year-old man was also arrested for assaulting the mother’s boyfriend, according to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel.
The victims told police that they didn’t know their attackers and they don’t know the motivations behind the attack, according to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel. (Video below)
Police said the footage was so clear that police were able to easily identify the suspects not long after watching the video, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
In the video, Julia Napiontek and Brandon Clanton both walked up to Tersa Elghali. Then Napiontek and the Elghali exchanged words in a confrontation. The mother began to walk toward Napiontek and then Napiontek responded by throwing punches at Elghali and dragged her by the hair.
Elghali’s 11-year-old daughter then got out of the passenger seat and Napiontek attacked her and threw her to the ground, according to WKMG.
A third woman got out of the bed of the pickup truck and was also punched and dragged by Napiontek. As she was leaving, Napiontek pushed the 11-year-old to the ground.
Jason Ellis, Elghali’s boyfriend, could see the fight from inside the gas station. Ellis said he was walking back to the truck when he was attacked by Clanton, according to police.
Ellis said he didn’t know what to do when he saw the 11-year-old girl being attacked, according to WKMG. Elghali said grabbed her daughter and hid behind a gas tank and asked customers to call the police.
“The victims told deputies that they did not previously know their attackers, and that there was not motive for the confrontation,” the sheriff’s office said, according to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel.
Napiontek was charged with battery and aggravated child abuse and Clanton was charged with battery and simple assault on a law enforcement officer. Clanton was charged with the assault on a police officer for resisting arrest, according to WKMG.
Clanton was arrested 11 days after being released from jail for attacking a 17-year-old at another gas station, according to WKMG.
