VIDEO: Woman Arrested After Video Shows Her Transporting Kids In Pet Kennels

Memphis, TN – Memphis police have arrested a woman after video went viral which showed her transporting children in pet kennels.

The video was uploaded to social media Saturday, and shows a woman opening up pet kennels in her trunk and children crawling out, in the 3700 block of Elvis Presley Blvd.

The day of the video, the temperature was 95 degrees.

After receiving word of the video, Memphis PD started investigating.

The police were able to identify the suspect as 62-year-old Leimome Cheeks.

The children were identified as being 7 and 8 years old. According to WZTV, the children told police that it was extremely hot in the back of the trunk while they were locked inside of the pet carriers.

The children said that there was no room for them inside of the passenger area of the vehicle.

Cheeks told officers that the children were in the back as she traveled from Collierville to Whitehaven, then to downtown throughout the day, according to Palm Beach Post.

The incident is still under investigation.

Cheeks was arrested and charged with two counts of child endangerment.
