Monroe City, MO – A disturbing video has been released which shows a female Monroe City Police Department officer struggling with a wanted fugitive. During the struggle, what appears to be a male supervisor is present and decided not to resort to physical force (video below.)

When the suspect finally broke free, neither officer gave immediate chase.

The incident happened Thursday at around 3:20 PM during a traffic stop at North Oak and Court Street, according to Monroe City PD.

An officer stopped Adrian Jones, who had an outstanding felony warrant which was issued out of Marion County. As two officers went to take Jones into custody, he resisted arrest and assaulted both officers. A local source advised that the supervisor was struck by the suspect and had the wind knocked out of him.

The video appears to start after the fight had already been ongoing and does not show the start of the fight. By the time the bystander started recording, the officers’ equipment was already hanging everywhere and the female officer could be seen fighting for control of Jones’ hand.

In the video, while the suspect and officers are obscured by the police car, it appears that Jones threw a punch to the female officer’s head.

The female officer continued to struggle for control of Jones’ arm while Jones pushed her and the male officer walked around.

Jones was able to break free and run away. Both officers turned around and started walking the other direction before the video stopped.

Jones was later captured and booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Interfering/resisting arrest.

It’s not clear at this time why the officers decided not to use more force during the encounter. No information has been released a this time about what injuries the officers may have sustained during the struggle.

The cameraman, Cody Hadsall, told Blue Lives Matter that he pulled up to a stop sign and saw the officers trying to get Jones out of the car, and that’s when he started recording.
