McAllen, TX – Video surveillance footage captured the moment that a police officer responded to a robbery at a jewelry store in La Plaza Mall and confronted seven robbers (video below.)

The incident happened Saturday as seven robbers ran into the jewelry store, appearing to brandish weapons, the video showed.

They greatly outnumbered the lone security officer, who appeared in the video to follow their directions to get on the ground.

The robbers started smashing glass display cases, which set off a false alarm of an active shooter among people in the mall, according to McAllen PD.

After receiving a report of an active shooter, all nearby law enforcement officers swarmed to take out the shooter. Officers from McAllen PD, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Border Patrol, and Texas Department of Public Safety responded, according to The Monitor.

A McAllen police officer arrived in less than one and one-half minutes. He rushed into the jewelry store and passed one of the robbers. The cop confronted the seven robbers alone until plainclothes officers arrived seconds behind him to help.

All seven robbers were taken into custody without anybody being injured.
