Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has released bodycam footage of the moment a Supercross racing star fatally shot himself outside the Rampart Division police station (video below).

Tyler “One Punch” Evans, 38, was the suspect in a domestic violence report that was made on Sept. 14, LAPD said in a news release.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Sep. 15, the domestic violence victim went into the LAPD’s Rampart Area station and told police that Evans was following her, The Eastsider reported.

She said Evans was outside the building, and that he was armed with a gun, LAPD said in the news release.

Several uniformed officers located Evans sitting on the grass outside the station.

They began ordering him to get onto the ground and to show his hands, bodycam footage showed.

Evans rose to his feet, then started to bend his knees to get back onto the ground.

But the seemingly compliant suspect quickly changed course and remained on his feet, ignoring the officers’ commands.

Then he walked out onto the sidewalk and started to move away from the officers.

“Get on the ground!” one officer ordered. “Get on your knees!”

“What the f–k is going on?” Evans yelled back at the officer.

“I’ll tell you in a second,” the officer replied. “Just do what you are told!”

Evans eyed the area behind him as officers ordered him not to run away.

“Beanbag!” an officer yelled out.

A moment later a “40mm less lethal munition” was deployed, the department said in the news release.

Evans, who was struck in the right side of his torso by the round, screamed out and doubled over.

“Alright, alright, I’m down!” he said, as he reached into his pants pocket for his handgun and shot himself in the head, the video showed.

Evans’ weapon fell to the ground next to his body.

Officers immediately requested emergency medical personnel, who subsequently pronounced Evans dead at the scene, police said.

No bystanders or officers were injured during the altercation.

The incident is under investigation by the LAPD’s Force Investigation Division, the department said in the news release.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division is also conducting a “comprehensive review of the facts of the incident,” according to the department.

Evans’ professional racing career spanned 10 seasons, the last five of which he devoted solely to Supercross, Motocross Action Magazine reported.
