The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department invited people from various news media outlets to take part in a simulated test where the news crews had to try to control somebody simulating resisting arrest.

The news crews accepted, and got to see first-hand how difficult it was (video below.)

David Sentendrey with FOX 46 posted the following message to Facebook along with video of his experience:

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department invited FOX 46 Charlotte and other media members to see — and feel — how difficult it is to take down someone who is resisting arrest.

There are a lot of questions you have to ask yourself. Does this person have a weapon? What are their intentions? It’s a case-by-case basis.

I was asked to take down several police recruits without punching, kicking or hitting them in any way. This is a controlled environment where we knew everything would be OK — the real thing would surely get your heart racing.

As you can see in the video, the news crews learned that it wasn’t so easy to take down a resisting suspect.
