Lake County, FL – A Orange County sheriff’s deputy is out of a job after he allegedly fled from a deputy in a neighboring county when he tried to pull him over last week (video below).

Dashcam footage from a Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputy’s patrol car showed a motorcyclist illegally passing an SUV in Groveland near State Road 50 and Fifth Street at about 2:30 a.m. on July 6, WKMG reported.

The rider was later identified as 44-year-old, off-duty Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Juan Morales-Padilla, according to WFTV.

The LCSO deputy attempted to pull the reckless rider over, but Deputy Morales-Padilla refused to stop and sped off, dashcam footage showed.

The deputy ultimately called off the pursuit, but not before he noted the rider’s license plate, WKMG reported.

LCSO deputies used the registration data to obtain the suspect’s name and address and stopped by his house.

According to an arrest affidavit, Deputy Morales-Padilla refused to answer the door during the several minutes deputies knocked on it, WKMG reported.

One deputy headed to the back yard of the residence and allegedly spotted the suspect through a rear sliding-glass door.

The deputy said Deputy Morales-Padilla, who was standing near the front door at the time, saw him outside the back door and waved at him, then walked away, WKMG reported.

Deputy Morales-Padilla allegedly changed his clothes and answered the front door several minutes later.

Bodycam footage showed deputies leading the disgraced Orange County deputy out of his home to a waiting patrol vehicle.

“You wanna run?” one deputy asked him. “Are you a cop?”

Deputy Morales-Padilla confirmed he was.

“Yes? So, you know better,” the deputy told him.

According to court documents, Deputy Morales-Padilla admitted to deputies that he made a “bad choice,” WKMG reported.

He then allegedly refused to speak with them any further.

Deputy Morales-Padilla was arrested on charges of resisting a law enforcement officer without violence and fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, WKMG reported.

He was fired by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) nearly immediately after his apprehension.

“These are serious allegations, and I have been clear that there will be no tolerance for criminal behavior involving deputies,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina told WFTV. “At the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, we hold our deputies to the highest ethical standards whether they are on duty or off duty.”

Deputy Morales-Padilla had been with the sheriff’s office since September of 2022, WFTV reported.
