Los Angeles, CA – A burly man beat two women on a Los Angeles sidewalk while passersby watched and did nothing to help them (video below).

Police are looking for a man who was filmed punching and hitting two women just after midnight on Saturday near Pershing Square, KTEN reported.

The incident began with an altercation at a hot dog cart that occurred when the man started arguing with the vendor over the $6 price of the hot dog.

“There was a man that was arguing with the vendor. At that point, one of the women said, ‘Hey, order your hot dog so we can get our food,'” Los Angeles Police Detective Meghan Aguilar told KABC.

“The man immediately turned, punched that woman in the face,” Det. Aguilar said. “That punch caused the woman to lose consciousness and she fell to the ground. At that point, her friend did try to intervene and she was punched multiple times by the suspect.”

The video, which began after the kerfuffle at the hot dog cart, showed a large man with a beard as he threw a woman in a white jacket to the ground.

Then he hit the woman in the black jacket, before hitting the woman in white again as she tried to get back up, the video showed.

Afterwards, the man fled across the street.

There were a number of witnesses to the fray, but none of them jumped in to help the women.

Instead, they stood by and watched, or filmed the fight.

“People shouldn’t always necessarily jump into situations where they then put themselves in peril, or in the way of harm, but we would ask that you at least call the police. We can’t do our jobs if we don’t know what’s happening and we aren’t called to the area,” Det. Aguilar told KTEN.

Police described the suspect as a man around 30 years old with black hair and brown eyes, approximately six-foot-two to six-foot-four inches tall, weighing between 205 to 275 pounds.
