Volusia County, FL – A Volusia County Sheriff’s Office K9 quickly brought a foot pursuit to a close on Monday afternoon, when he apprehended a suspect who allegedly fought with a Florida Highway Patrol trooper during a traffic stop (video below).

The incident occurred on Interstate 95, when the trooper stopped the unnamed suspect for reckless driving, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) said in the video release statement.

The driver fought with the trooper, then jumped back into his vehicle and fled the scene, according to police.

As the trooper pursued the suspect down the interstate, VCSO deputies deployed stop sticks to deflate the fleeing vehicle’s tires.

The suspect eventually stopped his car on the side of the roadway, then jumped out again and took off into the thick underbrush.

“Watch him, buddy,” VCSO K9 Endo’s handler told him as he stopped his patrol vehicle to join the foot pursuit.

“Stop, or I’ll send the dog!” he warned the fleeing suspect.

The fur missile leaped out of the vehicle and immediately locked in on his target.

“K9 Endo, a very good boy, apprehended him shortly thereafter,” the department said in the video release.

The deputy, who was just a short distance behind his K9 partner, was navigating his way over a barbed wire fence when the suspect let out a telltale scream, the video showed.

“Good boy, Endo!” the deputy praised the K9 as he caught up with him and saw the suspect being held to the ground by his leg.

He then noticed the man’s hand was gripping the dog’s snout, and ordered him to get his hands off of the K9 officer.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” the suspect squealed as K9 Endo retained his grip.

Another officer arrived at the scene and placed the suspect into handcuffs without further incident.

K9 Endo, a six-year-old German Shepherd, has been fearlessly serving the VCSO for many years.

In November of 2015, he was tracking a domestic disturbance suspect in the woods when the man shot him in the neck, WJAX reported.

Despite the severity of his injury, K9 Endo never faltered and completed his mission before being rushed into emergency surgery.

In February of 2016, the VCSO awarded K9 Endo the Medal of Valor and the Purple Heart for his unwavering devotion to protecting others.
