Edmonton, AB – Video has been released showing a terrorist ramming a police officer then getting out of his vehicle to repeatedly stab the officer late Saturday night (video below.)

The incident happened Saturday night near Commonwealth Stadium where 30,000 people had gathered for the Edmonton Eskimos hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Canadian Forces Appreciation Night, according to Global News.

At around 8:15 PM, a car rammed an officer at a police checkpoint, sending him flying through the air. While the officer was down, video shows the suspect exiting his vehicle to repeatedly stab the officer.

“Suddenly and without notice and at a high rate of speed, a male driving a white, Chevrolet Malibu crashed through the traffic barricades that were separating vehicles from pedestrians, the vehicle struck the officer, sending him flying into the air 15 feet before colliding with the officer’s cruiser, again at a high rate of speed,” Edmonston Police Chief Knecht said.

After stabbing the officer, the suspect then fled on foot. During the ensuing manhunt, a U-haul was stopped at a checkpoint on Wayne Gretzky Drive near 112 Avenue.

When the officer realized that the driver’s name was similar to the registered owner of the vehicle used in the attack, the suspect drove off, leading officers on a pursuit.

“Throughout the chase, the truck deliberately tried to hit pedestrians in crosswalks and alleys in two areas along Jasper Avenue.” Chief Knecht said.

Four people were hit before the truck crashed and officers took the suspect into custody. No deaths have been reported.

An ISIS flag was found in the suspect’s vehicle and the attack is being investigated as an act of terrorism. At this time, it’s believed that the suspect acted alone.

The injured officer was identified at Const. Mike Chernyk, who was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained from being rammed and stabbed repeatedly. He has already been released from the hospital.
