Grand Rapids, MI – Police have released dashcam video that shows a patrol vehicle ramming a murder suspect after a gunfight with officers in the middle of a highway (video below).

Police said that 33-year-old Adam Nolin killed his girlfriend, 27-year-old Tia Randall, at their home in the Creekside Estates Mobile Home Park in Wyoming early on the morning of Sept. 27, MLive reported.

Officers responded to a call from the mobile home at about 8:40 a.m. and found the mother-of-two dead, but the Nolin had fled.

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety put out a notice about Nolin and announced to the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

At about 10:30 a.m., a Grand Rapids police officer spotted Nolin travelling in the northbound lanes of U.S. 131, WXMI reported.

Police said the suspect led officers on a pursuit before he crashed on an S-curve of the highway.

That’s when the fugitive stopped in the middle of the road, jumped out of his truck, and began shooting at the officers, MLive reported.

A witness in a building nearby filmed the gunfight as the chaotic scene unfolded, and released that video shortly after the incident.

The newly released police dashcam video shows Nolin right after he wrecked at the S-curve and stopped his vehicle on the right side of the highway.

At least eight police vehicles were right behind him, and surrounded his vehicle after he stopped, the video showed.

That’s when Nolin jumped out of his pickup truck and took off across the highway toward the retaining wall on the media strip, firing his weapon at the approaching police vehicles filming the encounter as he ran.

The video showed the officer Nolin was shooting at continued to pursue the man as he fled on foot, and pulled up directly behind him as he ran.

Then the police vehicle hit Nolin from behind with its left front fender, and the shooter went down in the left emergency lane of the highway, the dashcam video showed.

A second dashcam video in real-time showed how quickly the gunfight on the freeway began and ended as the police officer neutralized the threat with his SUV.

The officer who intentionally struck Nolin stopped his vehicle on the opposite side of the roadway, and jumped out to run back and check on the suspect, who remained down after he was hit.

That officer began to take Nolin into custody as five other officers quickly arrived to back him up and assist, the video showed.

Nolin was arrested and transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

He was charged with open murder and attempted murder, MLive reported.

Nolin is undergoing a pre-trial competency evaluation that was requested by his defense attorneys, and ordered by the court.
