Grand Rapids, MI – A witness captured a video of a shootout on a highway between Grand Rapids police officers and a murder suspect from the city of Wyoming (video below).

The incident occurred after police began searching for 33-year-old Adam Nolin in connection with a murder that occurred at Creekside Estates Mobile Home Park in Wyoming on Thursday morning, WOOD-TV reported.

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety said that one person was killed at the mobile home park, and announced that Nolin should be considered armed and dangerous.

At about 10:30 a.m., a Grand Rapids police officer spotted Nolin travelling in the northbound lanes of U.S. 131, WXMI reported.

Police said the suspect led officers on a pursuit before he stopped in the middle of the road, jumped out of his truck, and began shooting at the officers, MLive reported.

A witness in a building nearby filmed the gunfight as the chaotic scene unfolded.

The video began just after Nolin had jumped out of his red and black pickup truck, and left it running and in gear, abandoned in the middle of the roadway.

Nolin began shooting at police officers in vehicles all around him as he ran toward the center median of the highway, the video showed.

Officers returned fire, and then a split second later, an approaching police vehicle struck Nolin with his front bumper.

In the video, Nolin bounced off the patrol car’s hood and landed in the emergency lane. The police car continued to the opposite side of the road and stopped in a safe position, the video showed.

Immediately, an officer jumped out of another police car and rushed toward the suspect on the ground, the video showed.

Nolin was taken into custody and transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening, WOOD reported.

The highway remained closed down for the police investigation, and officials said it would stay that way for most of the day.

“It’s still going to be a while,” Michigan Department of Transportation Spokesman John Richard told MLive on Thursday afternoon.

He said traffic was a mess because the highway is the busiest in the area, and Grand Rapids is in the middle of hosting an international art competition called ArtPrize.
