San Francisco, CA – Rush hour traffic on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was tied up for hours on Tuesday evening after videos posted by commuters on the bridge showed a naked woman with a gun shooting at cars on the highway (video below).
Authorities began receiving 911 calls from drivers on the Bay Bridge at about 4:38 p.m. on July 25, KRON reported.
Investigators said callers also said the women had been threatening random victims with a knife and tried to get into some of the vehicles that had passed her on the bridge, KRON reported.
Video showed the woman standing completely naked in the middle of the roadway, near the barrier that separated traffic exiting the bridge.
It appeared the woman targeted random vehicles that slowed as they passed by her.
The video showed she walked out into the roadway, stood in the middle of a lane of traffic, and pointed her gun at various cars.
She continued shooting until it appeared the naked woman had run out of ammunition in her handgun.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers found the woman on the bridge at about 6 p.m. and took her into custody without incident, KRON reported.
She followed officers’ instructions to drop her weapon and then was put into handcuffs and transported to a nearby hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, according to CHP.
No injuries were reported as a result of the random attack, KRON reported.
Authorities have not yet released a motive behind the bizarre incident.
