New York, NY – Actor Alec Baldwin was arrested after allegedly punching a man who had swooped into a parking spot that Baldwin was also preparing to park in.

The victim was punched in the face and taken to the hospital after he complained of pain. He is in stable condition, according to USA Today.

Baldwin, 60, lives on 10th Street near where the altercation happened, according to USA Today.

Following the assault, NYPD arrested Baldwin and released him with a court date.

Baldwin was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and harassment. The assault charge comes with a maximum sentence of a year in jail, according to WNBC.

Baldwin, an outspoken anti-Trumper, has had a regular role on NBC’s Saturday Night Live as he plays President Donald Trump.

On Friday, a reporter asked President Trump for his response to Baldwin’s arrest and Trump said, “I wish him luck.”

President Trump has been a critic of Baldwin’s portrayal of him on SNL skits.

On March 2, Trump tweeted: “Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch. Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!”

Hammond portrayed Trump on SNL before Baldwin took over the role in September 2016.

President Trump was responding to an interview Baldwin gave to the Hollywood Reporter. In that interview, Baldwin said he doesn’t enjoy portraying President Trump.

“Every time I do it now, it’s like agony. Agony. I can’t,” Baldwin said, according to Billboard.com.

“Trump is insane. I think most people know, the guy — he is insane,” Baldwin said on the Weekend Update podcast. “We have a man who is President who is insane.”

Baldwin responded to Trump via Twitter.

“Agony though it may be, I’d like to hang in there for the impeachment hearings, the resignation speech, the farewell helicopter ride to Mara-A-Lago [sic]. You know. The Good Stuff. That we’ve all been waiting for,” Baldwin tweeted.

Baldwin also said he was looking forward to the Trump Presidential Library and said it would contain a live Twitter feed and have “a little black book w the phone number of porn stars.”

Trump was critical of Baldwin’s portray of him during an interview with Matt Lauer.

“The skits are terrible,” Trump said, according to Billboard.com. “I like Alec, but his imitation of me is really mean-spirited and not very good … It’s very biased and I don’t like it.”
