Petersburg, KY – A Kentucky man says that a driver that tried to destroy his family’s giant nine-foot tall snowman by running over it got a surprise when it was discovered that the snowman had been built around a huge tree stump.

“This is Petersburg for you,” Cody Lutz wrote on his Facebook page. “What they didn’t count on, is the massive stump in the center. Life is hard, but it’s much harder when you’re stupid.”

Lutz told USA Today that he built the snowman on Wednesday with help from his fiancé and future sister-in-law. They called the creation “Hugh J. Snowman” at first but then changing the name to “Frosty.”

“We were playing in the snow, she’s from Mississippi so this is the most snow she’s ever seen in her entire life. I’m from Buffalo so this is no big deal,” Lutz told WXIX. “I love the snow!”

The bottom snowball was large enough to hide the massive tree trunk the supported the rest of the snowman’s body.

Lutz said on his Facebook account that when he was at work after building the snowman that he told co-workers he wouldn’t be surprised if someone tried to smash it.

When Lutz returned from work on Monday, he found tire tracks going through his yard and leading up to the base of the snowman, according to WXIX.

Lutz said someone tried to run over his snow creation and but the stump spoiled their fun.

“Instant Karma!” Lutz said, according to WXIX “It’s hilarious! You know, what goes around comes around, in good ways and bad ways. So, I guess everyone learns a valuable lesson here from Frosty.”

Lutz said on Facebook that his only regret was that he didn’t have a security camera.
