This Is The Suspect Wanted For Gunning Down A Trooper

Wilson County, NC – Authorities have released a photo of the suspect wanted for shooting a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper Monday evening.

At around 5:45 p.m. Trooper Daniel Harrell initiated a traffic stop at Highway 42 E near Bridgersville Rd.

Trooper Harrell was shot in the face during the traffic stop. The details of the stop have not been released, but the trooper’s patrol car was left on scene with the front end smashed in and bullet holes riddling the windshield.

He has been transported to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

After the shooting, the suspect fled the area and there has been a massive manhunt underway ever since.

Authorities identified the suspect as 36-year-old John David Jones.

Jones is now wanted for with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault on a law enforcement officer.

The suspect was described as 6 feet tall, 175 pounds, wearing a green and dark blue coat, blue jeans, and brown work boots.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and anybody who sees him should call 911 immediately.
