Arlington, TN – Police said that a teenage boy tried to sexually assault his friend’s mother in her suburban Memphis home during a sleepover with the woman’s son.
An Arlington mother said her son had a friend stay as a guest overnight on Sunday night, and that she brought all of the alcohol in the house into her bedroom and locked the door as a precaution, WREG reported.
The mother told police that Jordan Corter, 18, knocked on her bedroom door at about 2:30 a.m. on June 4, and when she opened it, he forced himself inside.
Police said Corter shoved the victim onto her bed and then proceeded to stick his hand down her pajama pants and touch her, Newsweek reported.
The woman told police she was able to wrestle her attacker off the bed, and got a black eye in the process, according to Newsweek.
She kneed him in the groin and grabbed her pistol, WREG reported.
Newsweek reported that she pointed the gun at Corter’s head and told him to leave her home.
The victim did not call police that night, and instead told her supervisor about it at work the next morning. She subsequently called police to report the attack.
WREG reported that arrest records showed that when questioned, Corter told police he “forced the victim to do the things she didn’t want to do,” and said he “should not be forgiven.”
Shelby County court records showed that Corter was arrested and charged with attempted rape and sexual battery, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.
His bond was set at $30,000, and he was being held at the Shelby County Jail.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office posted a warning alongside news of the arrest on its Facebook page.
“Know who you invite into your home,” the sheriff’s office advised.
