Washington, DC – The sexual assault captured on video last spring of an elementary school teacher at the charter school where she worked resulted in the victim losing her last paycheck of the school year (video below)

Achievement Prep Academy teacher Page Garbee was posing for a photo with one of her student’s mothers at an event she created called “Muffins For Moms” on May 23 when the incident occurred, WJLA reported.

The entire incident was captured on the surveillance cameras in the large room in the center of the school.

“All of a sudden, I felt someone smacking my behind,” Garbee told WJLA. “I stood up, bewildered, looked over and I put out my hands. I'm not sure what I said. ‘No. Stop.’ But it was a moment of shock for me. Then, all of a sudden, there was a hand reaching underneath my skirt. As the woman said, ‘I want to finger your p–sy. Again, I started backing away. I said, ‘no.’ And then she made sort of a lunging motion at me and grabbed my breasts.”

The school gave the video of the sexual assault to the DC Metropolitan Police Department, but it took several weeks for police to find and arrest the suspect.

Garbee told WJLA that she was willing to return to work at Achievement Prep Academy, but was afraid because at that point, no arrest had yet been made.

She asked the school to increase safety patrols, but her requests were ignored, she said.

That’s when Garbee said she started receiving automated messages from human resources that informed her she was taking “unpaid” days of leave

She said her doctor said she should take a mental health leave, but the teacher thought her school would give her paid administrative leave.

Instead, the school switched her to unpaid medical leave and stopped paying her, according to WJLA.

Achievement Prep Academy failed to pay Garbee for the last three weeks of the school year, which amounted to a total of $3,200. WJLA said they reviewed Garbee’s pay stubs while researching their story and confirmed she was paid zero.

“It was very hard for me,” Garbee told WJLA “I never said goodbye to my kids. I've had some of these kids for three years. It's really hard for me that I just disappeared from their lives.”

Achievement Prep Academy was unapologetic about their handling the sexual assault that was perpetrated on their teacher on campus. They told WJLA they had fully cooperated with the police investigation.

“Achievement Prep regrets that Ms. Garbee experienced such an offense on one of our campuses. None of us could have ever anticipated that an event that she herself so gracefully planned and led to honor the ‘moms’ of our scholars, would end the way it did,” the school wrote in a statement to WJLA.

“We truly hope Ms. Garbee continues to heal and receive the support she needs,” the statement continued. “Our goal is not to add to any stress or cause any additional stressors for Ms. Garbee.”

Police eventually arrested 29-year-old Andrea Brown and charged her with sexual assault. She pleaded guilty, WJLA reported.

Her attorney said Brown was on PCP, marijuana, and alcohol at the time she sexually assaulted the elementary school teacher.

WJLA reported that she was sentenced to 30 days jail and drug treatment.

Garbee has since left the teaching profession and started law school.
