Henderson, NV – A 27-year-old female teacher was arrested for sending lewd text messages to a student and luring him to her home to have commit sexual acts with him.

Breanna Hernandez had been a teacher at Basic High School since 2015 when police say she had an illicit relationship with a student, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

After the relationship was discovered in November of 2018, the Clark County School District reassigned Hernandez to her home while they investigated.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that police have investigated the messages sent between Hernandez and the student.

Prosecutors said that the teacher took the student to her home on multiple occasions.

When questioned by police, the victims initially told them, “I touched her butt, and that was it.”

But he later said that they later spent two hours kissing on the couch while Hernandez’s husband wasn’t home.

Hernandez has been charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, lewdness with a minor, and luring a minor with a computer for a sexual act, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Police have not yet released information about why Hernandez was charged with kidnapping, nor any other details of her alleged crimes.

Hernandez surrendered to police on Monday, and was booked into the local detention center, according to Clark County School District Police Lieutenant Darnell Couthen in a video posted on the Clark County School District’s official Facebook page.

In court on Tuesday, Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Ann Zimmerman set bail for Hernandez at $5,000.

Zimmerman also told Hernandez that she cannot have any contact with the student, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Richard Tanasi, the teacher’s attorney, said Hernandez has been placed on administrative leave by the Clark County School District.

Tanasi claimed his client was not a threat to the community and said Hernandez has her family’s support.

Hernandez was not the first Clark County School District teacher to be investigated for crimes committed against children in 2018.

KTNV reported that Kweku Turkson, a middle school teacher at West Prep Academy, was arrested and charged with three counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14 earlier in January of 2018.

A teacher at Ira J. Earl Elementary School, Luis Busso, also was arrested that same month and charged with five counts of attempted lewdness with a child under that age of 14, four counts of unlawful contact with a child, and one count of attempted lewdness with a child under the age of 14.
