Waterford, CT – A former special education teacher, who was arrested for having sex with one of her students while she awaited trial on allegations she had sex with another student, has been arrested for being in the company of one of her victims, police said.

Waterford police officers pulled 32-year-old Laura Ramos over on June 22, after they spotted her using her cell phone while driving, the Connecticut Post reported.

Officers discovered that the 19-year-old man in the passenger seat was one of her alleged victims, and that a protective order was in place that prohibited Ramos from being in contact with him, according to WTIC.

Ramos was arrested for criminal violation of a protective order and distracted driving.

“Honestly, what is going on here?” Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin asked Ramos during her July 5 hearing, according to the New York Post. “You were going to the beach with a boy who was a subject of your case. That is completely reckless.”

The former Central High School teacher and mother was married when she was charged with her first count of second-degree sexual assault during the summer of 2017.

Ramos initially denied having a sexual relationship with her 18-year-old special education student, but ultimately admitted they had sex on multiple occasions from December of 2016 until April of 2017 – usually in her car, the New York Post reported.

Ramos was placed on administrative leave after her arrest and later resigned her position.

On June 23, a second special education student told police that he also had been in a sexual relationship with Ramos when she was a teacher, the Connecticut Post reported.

The student told police that he and Ramos went out to dinner together in April of 2017, and that they had sex in Ramos’ car in the parking lot afterwards.

Later the same month, Ramos complained about the lack of sex she was receiving from her husband, and took the boy out to dinner again, he told investigators.

He said that he and Ramos ended up having sex in the “electrical room” of the restaurant, and that she later texted him and told him it was the best sex she had ever had.

She was subsequently charged with a second count of second-degree sexual assault.

Police believe Ramos, who is now working as a waitress, may have sexually assaulted other students and the investigation is ongoing, FOX News reported.

After her initial charges, the court released Ramos on $50,000 bond and prohibited her from having contact with her alleged victims.

During her July 5 hearing for violating those orders, Ramos’ attorney, Edward Gavin, repeatedly apologized to the judge for his client’s “lapse in judgement,” the New York Post reported.

“We acknowledge this is a severe violation of the court’s order and I have impressed upon her how serious it is,” he told Devlin.

Devlin subsequently set Ramos’ bond at $250,000.

She bonded out of jail about an hour later, the Connecticut Post reported.

If convicted, Ramos faces up to 10 years in prison, according to People.

Her distracted driving and criminal violation of a protective order matters were pending in New London Superior Court, the Connecticut Post reported.

Ramos’ husband was recently granted a divorce and was also given custody of the couple’s 2-year-old child.
