Ventura, CA – Two arrests were made in separate looting incidents in California after the Woolsey fire destroy several communities on Saturday.

One of the arrests involved police officers chasing a vehicle on Friday, according to KTLA.

“If you come here with the intent of taking advantage of the situation, we will arrest you and you will go to jail,” Ventura County Sheriff Department Sergeant Eric Buschow said, according to KTLA.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Chief John Benedict said there has been no looting in Los Angeles County.

Chief Benedict said there are more than 200 law enforcement officers securing the evacuation zones in Los Angeles County, according to KABC.

KHSL reported that it had video footage of two men arrested for looting.

The two men in the KHSL video appear to be wearing jacket uniforms similar to U.S. Forest Service personnel. KHSL reported that the men may have been impersonating authorities to gain access to the area.

Butte County Sheriff Department Sheriff Kory Honea said looters would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, according to KHSL.

The Woolsey fire has burned 70,000 acres, killed two people, destroyed more than 100 homes and forced 260,000 to evacuate, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Firefighters were battling the fire in an effort to save Pepperdine University in Malibu, according to the Los Angeles Times. There were hundreds of students and Pepperdine staff that took shelter on the campus, including inside buildings and the library.

The two deaths were reported Friday in Malibu. Two individuals were severely burned inside a stopped vehicle that was on a long residential driveway, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Authorities have asked residents to obey evacuation orders so they don’t hamper the efforts of firefighters.
