Fayetteville, AR – An Arkansas man who was previously convicted of possessing child pornography was arrested for committing the same crime only a couple of weeks after he was released from jail.

Joshua Box, 35, was a Level 2 sex offender when he moved to northwest Arkansas in May, according to the Facebook notification about his arrival shared by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on May 22.

Authorities announced that Box would be moving to the 14200-block of Dogwood Drive in Fayetteville, KFSM reported

The Arkansas Department Correction’s Risk Assessment Division evaluated Box and determined he was in the medium risk category to re-offend, according to KFSM.

The notification shared with the public stressed that as of the date of its posting, Box was not wanted by police. The sheriff’s office also pointed out that the sex offender was constitutionally free to live wherever he wanted.

It did not take long, however, for the registered sex offender to re-offend at his new address.

On June 5, Box was indicted and a warrant for his arrest was issued. He was taken into custody on June 7, according to WKRN.

He was charged with receiving material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor and possessing material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor less than 12 years old, WKRN reported.

Box had also been having contact with a 17 year old, which violated the terms of his probation, WTOV-TV reported.

Police said Box possessed thousands of images and videos of minors who were nude and engaging in sexually explicit conduct on his hard drive, according to WHAM-TV.

Box had been convicted of possession of child pornography in August of 2015. KSFM reported that he told authorities that he had been downloading child pornography since he was 15 years old.

WKRN reported that the repeat sex offender had suffered devastating facial injuries in the past, and “passed time browsing the internet for child porn.”
