The Colony, TX – Some Texas students saw their senior prank fail miserably when police arrived before they had an opportunity to cause any damage on June 4.

The Colony Police Department posted a photo of a group of officers posing with a giant graduation card, a whole lot of toilet paper and several cartons of eggs, the Dallas Morning News reported.

“TCPD would like to thank the three students from the class of 2018 for their generous donation of toilet paper and eggs for breakfast,” the department posted on its Facebook page.

“We were sorry to see that you ran away before we could thank you in person. May your life after graduation go better than this prank,” the department wrote.

Police were alerted to the upcoming prank by the school’s security system, which monitors surveillance cameras, the Dallas Morning News reported.

“When we responded, the kids ran off, and then [our officers] found the toilet paper and cart of eggs still laying on the ground,” said Rick De La Cruz, spokesman for The Colony Police Department. “We don’t know whether intentions were to do it then, later or whatever.”

De La Cruz told the Dallas Morning News that police don’t usually get calls about senior pranks.

“Nine times out of 10 we really don’t get called out,” he said.
