Ewing, NJ – A New Jersey high school teacher sent nude photos of herself to a male student and asked him to have sex with her, police said.
Chelsea Hahn, 25, also kissed the 17-year-old male student in her Ewing High School classroom, The Trentonian reported. It was unclear whether the teen was one of Hahn’s students.
The offenses occurred “on or around” June 1, and Ewing High School administrators notified local police of the alleged misconduct on the same date, NJ.com reported.
Investigators said that Hahn used her cell phone to send explicit messages to the student and that her behavior “impaired or debauched the morals” of the teen, according to The Trentonian.
On Saturday, Ewing Public Schools officials announced that Hahn had been suspended “pending further action and is no longer allowed on Board of Education property.”
“We have the highest expectations for professional behavior on the part of our staff and the well-being of our students is our foremost concern,” Superintendent Michael Nitti and Ewing High School Principal Edward Chmiel said in a joint statement, according to The Trentonian.
“Consequently, we were deeply saddened by this development. Please know that we handled this matter professionally and cooperated fully with relevant law enforcement officials as soon as we became aware of this situation,” the statement read.
Hahn described herself as a long-term substitute teacher on her various social media pages and said she had been working at Ewing High School since April of 2017, The Trentonian reported.
Hahn, who said she held bachelor’s degrees in secondary education and English and a master’s degree in English, also listed herself as an adjunct professor at The College of New Jersey.
She was charged on a summons for three counts of child endangerment, and was scheduled to appear in Mercer County Superior Court on July 3, NJ.com reported.
