Fair Lawn, NJ – Police have arrested the brother of a New York Giants player for the death of a hip-hop music producer.

The body of 25-year-old Roosevelt Rene, who produced music under the name “Trypps Beats,” was found dead in the basement of Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins’ home on Van Saun Place early on Tuesday morning, The New York Post reported.

ABC News reported that police arrested the National Football League (NFL) player’s older brother, 34-year-old William Jenkins Jr., on Wednesday, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Fair Lawn police.

William Jenkins Jr. was charged with aggravated manslaughter in connection with the death of Rene, a family friend, and was being held in the Ontario County Jail in Canandaigua, New York awaiting extradition to New Jersey, The New York Post reported.

TMZ reported that Jenkins Jr. was actually arrested at about 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, nine hours before Rene’s body was found by a maintenance worker in his brother’s home. He was picked up on a parole violation in upstate New York.

Jenkins Jr. has a length criminal record and was released on parole in July of 2016 after having been busted on drug charges in April of 2011, The New York Post reported.

He had been living in his famous NFL player brother’s basement since his release from prison, after having been convicted for the criminal sale of a controlled substance, ABC News reported.

Jenkins Jr.’s record included three arrests in Florida on burglary, aggravated assault, and grand theft charges, according to NJ.com. He has also been arrested at least four times in the state of New York on various drug charges.

He has spent seven years in jail since he turned 18, and was on parole for two felony drug convictions when he was picked up by police on June 26.

Court documents showed that Rene had been staying as a guest in the football player’s home for an unknown period of time prior to his death, NJ.com reported.

The football player was not in residence when Rene’s body was discovered. He has been in in Florida since the end of the Giants minicamp two weeks ago, ESPN reported.

When he learned about Rene’s death, the Pro Bowl player had initially wanted to return to New Jersey on Tuesday to deal with the investigation, but later changed his plans on the advice of his attorneys, ESPN reported in an interesting series of tweets.

The New York Giants released a statement that said they were “aware of and monitoring the situation,” according to KABC-TV.

Janoris Jenkins, who has a knack for returning interceptions for touchdowns, signed a five-year, $62 million contract in 2016.
