Bellevue, KY – Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Logan Woodside was arrested early Saturday morning for driving under the influence.
Woodside’s attorney pleaded not guilty June 12 to charges of speeding and first offense DUI.
“We are aware of the incident involving Logan Woodside and are gathering more information,” the Bengals said, according to WXIX-TV.
Woodside was practicing with the team on Tuesday.
The Bellevue Police Department officer stated in his report that the officer saw a blue SUV go through a grocery parking lot at a high rate of speed, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
When the police officer stopped the car, the driver had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and was glassy eyed.
Woodside had trouble during a sobriety test with difficulties on the walk and turn test.
Woodside was also unable to complete the one leg stand. Police said he took a blood alcohol test after trying to contact an attorney.
Woodside’s blood alcohol content was .112, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Driving with concentrations of .08 and above is illegal in Kentucky, according to the Lexington Herald Leader.
Woodside was also cited by the police offer for driving greater than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit.
Woodside was the 7th round draft pick of the Bengals in the 2018 draft. Woodside played college football at Toledo and was the Mid-American Conference offensive player of the year in 2017. His best season was 2016 when he threw for 4,129 yards and 45 touchdowns and led Toledo to a 9-4 record.
He signed a four-year non-guaranteed contract with the Bengals worth $2.5 million on May 11, or about $632,500 a year. That included a $69,996 signing bonus.
