Plaistow, NH – Police were called to a New Hampshire fitness club to remove a naked man from Planet Fitness on Sunday, and he gave an unusual excuse for his behavior.

Eric Stagno, 34, of Massachusetts, was arrested without incident, according to WBZ-TV. He was charged with indecent exposure/lewdness and disorderly conduct.

He reportedly told police at Planet Fitness he thought he was in a “judgement-free zone,” according to WMUR-TV.

Stagno was apparently referencing Planet Fitness slogan “judgement-free zone.” The company has also applied that slogan in a campaign to stomp out bullying.

“It’s a judgment-free zone, right? That’s what he said, right?” gym member April Story said, according to WMUR.

Stagno reportedly walked into the gym and then took his clothes off. He then walked around the gym naked and then settled in on the yoga mats, according to WBZ.

Plaistow Police Captain Brett Morgan said that people in the gym who saw Stagno’s naked workout said they were feeling “disgusted,” “sick,” and “unsafe,” according to WBZ.

The consensus from gym members interviewed by WMUR was that it was preferred that Stagno wear clothing while working out.

“To me, it’s like, ‘What did you smoke before you came to the gym?'” gym member Kat Lancaster said to WMUR. “No, I don’t think you should be at the gym naked.”

“That’s not right at all. Why would you do that? People are uncomfortable. Make you uncomfortable. That’s weird,” gym member Tony Nachef said, according to WMUR.

“Well I just moved out here, so this is a ‘Live Free or Die’ state, so anything’s free,” gym member Doug Wilson told WMUR.

Stagno was reportedly not a member of Planet Fitness. He was released on $1,000 bail. He has a court set for Sept. 21, according to WMUR.
