Somerset, KY – A 35-year-old mother will be spending the next 20 years behind bars after forcing her 14-year-old daughter to drink alcohol.

The Somerset Police Department investigated a tip about a video on social media which showed Mirande Polston forcing her teenage daughter to drink alcohol, the Lexington Herald Leader reported.

Police managed to obtain a copy of the video, and then questioned Polston.

Polston told the police that she had caught her daughter drinking alcohol, and with the help of other minors, forced her daughter to drink more to try to get her sick, police said.

Court records said Polston’s daughter looked “severely intoxicated” in the video, and a teen boy was helping to hold her up in a chair.

The video showed the mother forcing her daughter to drink as the girl yelled “No” several times, according to police.

The daughter eventually fell out of her chair onto the floor, and hit her head, court records showed. Polston told police her daughter couldn’t remember the incident the next morning, the Lexington Herald Leader reported.

Polston told police she thought the experience would dissuade her daughter from drinking in the future, the Lexington Herald Leader reported.

However, Judge David Tapp said in his ruling that the mother could be heard on the video saying that her daughter could get on MTV with the video and make “a thousand million dollars,” the Lexington Herald Leader reported.

The judge’s order also noted Polston was slurring her words in the video, indicating she was drinking alcohol, too.

Polston was already on probation, for numerous other charges, including burglary. One of the conditions of Polston’s probation was she could not possess or drink any alcohol, nor break any laws, according to the Lexington Herald Leader.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney David Dalton requested that the judge revoke Polston’s probation because of the allegations that she had violated the terms.

Tapp ultimately revoked Polston’s probation on June 4, sending her to jail for the original 20-year term of her sentence.

The judge said she was a danger to others and could no longer be adequately supervised on probation, the Lexington Herald Leader reported. He also said she broke a state law when she put her daughter in a position to suffer a serious injury.

Polston still faces new charges from the forced-drinking incident with her daughter.
