Waldron, AR – A middle school assistant principal who admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student has been arrested for sexual assault, police said.
Police said the investigation into 37-year-old Waldron School District Assistant Principal Jessica Williams began on Monday, after a tip and an anonymous letter were received by the district’s central office, KFSM reported.
The letter alleged that a female school administrator employed by the district was in the midst of an ongoing sexual relationship with a teenage male student.
The school resource officer and other investigators interviewed the victim at the police department, and he confirmed he had been in a sexual relationship with Williams since earlier this summer, KFSM reported.
The teen also said that he and Williams had exchanged “inappropriate” photographs on multiple occasions, and provided investigators with evidence to support his claims, KFTA reported.
When police interviewed Williams at Waldron Public School Central Office later the same day, the school administrator admitted she had engaged in sexual contact with the juvenile male student on several occasions.
The Waldron school district didn’t have much to say about the former administrator’s arrest, other than that she was no longer working for the school system.
"We have a former employee who resigned last night at the board meeting,” Waldron Schools Superintendent Daniel Fielding told KFSM. “It is under police investigation."
The district later confirmed that Williams was the suspect in the case.
Williams faces up to five counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of tampering with evidence, KFSM reported.
She was booked into the Scott County Detention Center, where her bond was set at $100,000, the New York Post reported.
The incident remains under investigation by the Waldron Police Department, according to KFTA.
