LATEST: 3 Kansas City Officers Shot – Another Cop Shot During Manhunt

Kansas City, MO – Three Kansas City police officers have now been shot after a third officer was shot during the manhunt for a gunman.

The Kansas City Star reports that the initial shooting happened near U.S. 40 and Manchester Sunday at around 12:15 p.m.

Undercover and tactical officers were conducting an investigation when a suspect with a rifle shot two of the officers. Those officers are now in stable condition.

The suspect fled in a vehicle, which was recovered a short time later near 30th and Topping. A passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody while the gunman fled on foot.

The Kansas City Star reports hearing at least 50 gunshots in the area during the manhunt at around 12:56 p.m., and a third officer was hit in the gunfight.

The condition of the third officer has not been released.

Kansas City PD say that they are now in a standoff with the suspect, who is believed to be barricaded in a home in the 3000 block of Topping Ave.

UPDATE: While surrounded by tactical officers, the suspect exited the residence and opened fire on the police. He was destroyed in the gunfight.

The third officer who was shot is in stable condition.
