Bowling Green, KY – A Bowling Green police officer was shot during an exchange of gunfire at a used car dealership on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred at America’s Car-Mart located at 1930 Russellville Road at approximately 5:25 p.m. on July 6, the Bowling Green Daily News reported.
Police scanner traffic indicated shots were fired at the car lot just before a male suspect ran into the business, according to the paper.
The suspect was taken to the Medical Center in Bowling Green, where he was pronounced dead by the Warren County Coroner.

A Bowling Green officer was shot during the exchange of gunfire and was transported away from the scene by ambulance, the Bowling Green Daily News reported.
The Kentucky State Police (KSP) described the wounded officer’s injuries as life-threatening, the Bowling Green Daily News reported.
“One of our officers has been involved in a shooting,” the Bowling Green Police Department (BGPD) said in a Facebook post on Thursday night. “They are wounded and in need of prayers. Thank you.”
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) said the wounded hero was taken into surgery and remained in critical condition.
“Please keep him, his family, and his fellow brothers and sisters in blue in your prayers,” the BCSO said in a Facebook post.
The identities of the wounded officer and the deceased suspect were not immediately available.
Details regarding what led up to the fatal officer-involved shooting are unknown.

Police shut down a portion of Russellville Road in the wake of the incident and were interviewing witnesses on Thursday night, the Bowling Green Daily News reported.
The KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team is handling the ongoing investigation, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
