Atlanta, GA – A Good Samaritan with a gun rescued a pregnant pizza delivery driver who was being attacked in his neighborhood.

The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. on June 20 when a very pregnant pizza delivery woman was accosted by three individuals as she attempted to deliver a pizza to an address in the 4100-block of Waits Avenue, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The woman, who is eight months pregnant, told police that three people approached her from the rear of the residence and tried to carjack her.

“The victim advised that one of the males was holding a black handgun,” Atlanta Police Spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said in a statement. “At that time, the male with the gun started to strike the victim with the weapon and demanded the keys to her vehicle.”

The woman tried to run for help at a nearby house, but the three suspects caught up with her and began pistol-whipping her again, police said.

Neighbor Dennis Madaris told police he heard the screams of the pregnant woman and ran outside with his gun to help her, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Madaris told WSB-TV that he caught the suspects beating the woman with a rifle, and at that point, he drew his own weapon.

“When I came around the corner here, I saw three people were beating on this lady. One of them had a gun,” Madaris told WSB-TV.

“One of them turned around and he had the gun in his hand. I told him, ‘Drop the gun or I will drop you!’ And they threw the gun down and all three of them took off,” the Good Samaritan said.

Police said the victim suffered only minor cuts and bruises, but she was transported to the hospital for an exam as a precaution because she was pregnant.

“They tried to kill her the way they beat and kicked her in the stomach. She is eight months pregnant,” the victim’s aunt told WAGA.

Authorities have arrested three people in connection with the attack on the pizza delivery driver, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

A 16-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl were charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery, aggravated assault, and obstruction of officers, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The teenaged boy was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a controlled substance.

Police have also arrested an adult male in connection with the attack on the pregnant woman, but no information regarding his identity or charges has been released.
