Hero Down: Mobile Officer Sean Tuder Murdered By Gunman

Mobile, AL – Mobile Policer Officer Sean Tuder was murdered in the line of duty while attempting to arrest a wanted fugitive Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. at the Peach Place Inn as officers were attempting to locate a wanted fugitive, according to AL.com.

19-year-old Marco Perez had numerous warrants for his arrest on undisclosed charges.

As officers were searching for Perez, Officer Tuder was fatally shot. Police would not confirm if Perez was the gunman, but he is in custody.

“We’re trying to make sense of how we can have another brother lose his life in less than a year,” Chief Lawrence Battiste said at a press conference.

Mobile Police Officer Justin Billa was murdered last year while attempting to apprehend a murder suspect.

Just months before, the department lost Sergeant Jeremy Franks in a collision.

The chief asked for patience while they investigate before they release the details of the shooting.

Officer Tuder was a 3-year veteran of the department, but had prior law enforcement experience.
