Florence, SC – A gunman was taken into custody after shooting five law enforcement officers Wednesday evening.
At least one officer has died, according to WBTW reporter Steve Roth
Preliminary information is that the officers were responding to an “active shooter” in Vintage Place off of Hoffmeyer Rd
While on scene, the unidentified gunman shot three Florence County deputies and two Florence PD officers.
A hostage negotiator was able to make contact with the gunman and convince him to surrender.
A 20-year-old male in the suspect’s home was also shot, but it’s not clear at this time if he was shot by officers or the suspect. He is currently alive, according to Seth Roth.
The gunman has been transported to the hospital. It’s unclear what his injuries are.
No information has been released at this time on the condition of the wounded officers.
