Waco, TX – An armed good Samaritan fatally shot a man who attacked him when he tried to intervene in a fight at a boutique hotel in Texas on Saturday.

The incident occurred at about 3 a.m. on July 15 when a hotel guest heard women screaming for help in the hallway at the Hotel Indigo, located off Interstate 35 in Waco, KWTX reported.

Police said the bystander told investigators he followed the sound of the screaming and found a man attacking three women in a hotel room, KWKT reported.

The good Samaritan said he went into the room and intervened.

He said he attempted to de-escalate the confrontation, but suspect wouldn’t stop threatening him and the women he had victimized, KWTX reported.

Police said the man then attacked the good Samaritan and that’s when witnesses said that guest drew a firearm and fired one shot at the violent suspect.

The suspect was struck by the gunshot, KWKT reported.

Emergency services responded to the scene and performed lifesaving measures.

They transported the wounded attacker to a nearby emergency room, where he later died, according to KWKT.

Officials said the shooter stayed at the scene and was fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation of the incident, KWTX reported.

Authorities said the investigation was ongoing but, thus far, no charges have been brought against the good Samaritan who shot the attacker.

Police said it appeared the man who was killed had allegedly been poised to seriously injure the women had the other hotel guest not intervened and stopped him, KWTX reported.

One of the woman was injured in the attack and required medical attention.

Detectives were interviewing witnesses to learn more about the altercation that led up to the fight in the hotel hallway.

Police have not yet released the identity of the suspect who was killed, KWKT reported.

They said everyone who was involved in the incident was a guest at the Hotel Indigo.
