Miramar, FL – An Air Force veteran’s crowdfunding campaign to gather funds to build the wall President Donald Trump promised on the U.S. southern border with Mexico has raised over $5 million in just four days.

The GoFundMe campaign was launched on Sunday by retired U.S. Air Force Special Forces Senior Airman Brian Kolfage, according to the page.

Kolfage, a Purple Heart recipient, is also a triple amputee who has been named the “most severely wounded airman to survive any war in U.S. history,” Military Times reported.

“I have grandparents who immigrated to America legally, they did it the correct way and it’s time we uphold our laws, and get this wall BUILT!” he wrote on the crowdfunding site. “It’s up to Americans to help out and pitch in to get this project rolling.”

President Trump has long declared his intent to build the border wall – a feat that he estimated will take $5 billion to accomplish, USA Today reported.

The Senate did not fulfill the President’s funding request in the budget proposal that was passed on Wednesday, the New York Post reported.

“If the 63 million people who voted for Trump each pledge $80, we can build the wall,” Kolfage explained on the fundraising site. “That equates to roughly 5Billion Dollars, even if we get half, that’s half the wall. We can do this.”

Kolfage said that his group, The Wall Fundraising Team, has contacted the Trump administration to establish a secure way to transfer the funds, and that legislation is being introduced with the intent of having the “Treasury Department… issue savings bonds which would allow us to fund the wall [with] this method.”

The group also has legal counsel on board, and is developing an agreement “that will bind the government to using the funds for the border wall itself, nothing else,” Kolfage wrote.

“As a veteran who has given so much, 3 limbs, I feel deeply invested to this nation to ensure future generations have everything we have today,” he said. “Too many Americans have been murdered by illegal aliens and too many illegals are taking advantage of the United States taxpayers with no means of ever contributing to our society.”

As of Thursday morning, nearly 70,000 donors had contributed more than $4.3 million in the three days since the campaign launched.

The Wall Fundraising Team has set the goal at $1 billion, the current maximum amount allowed by the website, Fortune reported.

Kolfage said he has also been scheduled to discuss the project with FOX News on Thursday and Friday, and that he has established a Go Fund The Wall page on Facebook to keep donors informed about the status of the campaign.

In addition to organizing the border wall fundraiser, Kolfage, a married father-of-two, is also an architect and motivational speaker, according to his website.

On Sep. 11, 2004, he was at the Balad Air Base on his second Operation Iraqi Freedom deployment when the base came under attack.

A 107mm rocket shell exploded approximately three feet away from him, collapsing his lung and shredding his legs and right arm, but he somehow remained conscious and was able to scream for help, the Military Times reported.

“Despite suffering multiple amputations and the looming possibility of death, Airman Kolfage still maintained incredible strength and courage throughout his recovery,” his website read. “The fact that no one with his level of amputation has ever been able to walk independently didn’t discourage him.”

Kolfage walked out of the hospital just 11 months after sustaining his catastrophic injuries, and immediately continued his military service as the base security manager at Davis Monthan Air Force Base.

He continues to volunteer his time meeting with and mentoring other wounded warriors.
