San Diego, CA – Investigators have determined that a gay man who had claimed to be set on fire by people yelling gay slurs on a San Diego sidewalk last month was actually set ablaze by a pregnant woman he was attacking.
Scott Rowin, 39, told police and media that he was walking home just after 8 p.m. on June 12 when he heard people yelling anti-gay slurs he believed were directed at him, KGTV reported.
Rowin claimed to have yelled back at his harassers and then they threw some kind of liquid on him.
He told KGTV that he thought it was water at first but then he burst into flames.
“Immediately after that, I went up like coals on a barbecue,” Rowin said in an interview as he showcased the bandages covering his badly-burned torso.
He said he stopped, dropped, and rolled to put out the flames and claimed it had to be a targeted hate attack because it was Pride month, KGTV reported.
“Nobody walks around with flammable liquid like without an agenda. In my opinion, they were obliviously out there targeting the LGBT community,” Rowin said.
But two days later, Rowin’s story fell apart in an even more glorious manner than Jussie Smollett’s debacle.
Investigators said police received multiple 911 calls at about 10:41 p.m. the same night Rowin claimed to have been set on fire by callers reporting a man who was attacking a pregnant woman, KGTV reported.
Responding officers said the attacker had left the scene when they arrived, but they found a bleeding pregnant woman suffering from multiple injuries.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment while police began interviewing witnesses, KGTV reported.
Another jussie smollett fake attack. Scott Rowin is faking an attack by heterosexuals but it was he that was beating a pregnant woman. Luckily it was caught on camera

Investigators were then able locate a video of the assault.
“The video shows the initial physical assault by the man on the pregnant woman and the subsequent use of fire as a weapon by the pregnant woman on the man,” the San Diego Police Department said in a statement.

No charges have been brought against Rowin thus far, KGTV reported.
“This is a complex investigation, and detectives are examining all aspects and allegations,” the police department said. “The San Diego Police Department takes all crimes of violence extremely seriously. We recognize the community’s interest in this case and are working to balance transparency with protecting the active criminal investigations.”
