Middleburg, FL – Clay County Fire Lieutenant John Taylor is still in the intensive care unit after a group of firefighters ran him over during a bar fight on September 8.

Despite having a truckload of three first responders who could have provided first aid, the group all fled, leaving the lieutenant to die.

The incident happened at around 1:20 AM at Dalton’s Sports Grill on Blanding Boulevard, according to Action News Jax.

Orange County firefighter Edward Negron and Clay County Lieutenant John Taylor got into an argument while Negron was sitting in the back of a 2005 Ford F-250 crew cab.

Negron punched Taylor in the face, and then Taylor tried to hit him back.

Robert Hood then backed up and drove the truck over Taylor. A witness told Hood that he had run over Taylor, but Jacksonville firefighter Todd Hardin, who was in the passenger seat, told him, “Go, go go.”

The thee suspects, who are all also in the national guard, then fled the scene and did not call 911.

Officers located and stopped the truck while it was driving down County Road 215.

Taylor was critically injured and given a 50% chance of survival.

Hood has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash.

Hardin has been charged with accessory after the fact. Action News Jax reports that he has been reassigned at Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department during the investigation.

Negron was charged with battery and accessory after the fact. He has been suspended with pay from the Orange County Fire Department.

A GoFundMe was set up for Lieutenant John Taylor as he fights for his life in the hospital. So far, over $10,000 has been raised through the crowdfunding campaign.
