Manhattan Beach CA – Actor Vince Vaughn was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of drunk driving.

Vaughn was stopped at a police checkpoint at around 1 a.m. along with a passenger in the car.

The Sun reported that the sobriety checkpoint was in place from 8 p.m. Saturday night until 3 a.m. Sunday.

Vaughn and his passenger initially refused to get out of the car when asked by police, which led to a charge for delaying the investigation, according to TMZ.

Vaughn eventually performed field sobriety tests which were recorded on camera.

The Sun reported that Vaughn’s wife Kyla Weber was spotted leaving the police station with a police escort and with Vaughn believed to be hiding in the back.

Weber, a real estate agent who married Vaughn in 2010, entered the police station through a back entrance to avoid attention.

Initial media reports was that Vaughn had resisted arrest. Manhattan Beach Police Department Sergeant Tim Zins told the BBC that Vaughn was not fighting police officers, but simply delaying the investigation by refusing to exit his vehicle.

Vaughn had a slight smile for his mugshot, which was released by the police department.

Vaughn was charged with driving while intoxicated and obstructing an officer. The male passenger was charged with obstruction and public intoxication, according to TMZ.

This was Vaughn’s first DUI offense, according to TMZ.

Vaughn was arrested in 2001 after a bar brawl in which actor Steve Buscemi was stabbed in the face, throat and arm. Buscemi had intervened in a fight involving Vaughn.

Vaughn, 49, was recently in the movie Brawl in Cell Block 99 where he played an ex-boxer, according to the BBC.
