After Anamosa Police Officer Mitchell Kelchen was killed, officers from around the state gave business cards to his son. When he took the cards to school, a bully destroyed the cards. Now, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office put out a call for help.

On September 2nd, Officer Kelchen was a passenger in a 2012 Buick being driven by his wife Tina.  Their vehicle was traveling south on Highway 62 when another vehicle crossed the center line and hit their vehicle head-on.

Officer Kelchen was killed in the collision.

After officers from around the state gave their business cards to the fallen hero’s oldest son, they were destroyed by a bully.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office posted the following details on Facebook:

Looking for some help. Officer Mitch Kelchen was killed in a horrible accident on Labor Day weekend. His oldest son is in 7th grade and collected a bunch of business cards from officers all across the state.

His son took the business cards to school to show his friends because he was so proud of them. I guess a bully grabbed them from him and ripped them all up. I spoke with Mitch’s wife before posting this and she was ok with it. She doesn’t want me to mention the kid, or the school that is involved. She doesn’t want anyone to contact the school as she is taking care of it.

I’m just seeing if anyone would be interested in mailing their business card, or collecting business cards at their dept to send to him. Mitch was a great father and husband and would drop anything to help someone, even a stranger. Thank you.
