Oregon City, OR – More than a dozen Clackamas County deputies are under internal investigation after reports were made about a nude photo shoot in the courthouse.
A ‘credible source’ told Fox 12 earlier this week about the incident, and someone sent an anonymous letter to Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts on Thursday, October 5.
The incident is believed to have occurred on September 23, according to the source, who said that more than a dozen deputies, including at least one sergeant and a captain within the Civil Division were involved.
The source said that the deputies came to the courthouse, went inside, and took nude and partially nude photos of one another as part of a plan to make a calendar for a retiring deputy.
After Sheriff Roberts received the anonymous letter, an internal investigation was started. According to Fox 12, “reason was found” to place Captain Dave O’Shaughnessy on paid leave.
Captain O’Shaughnessy is assigned to the courthouse as a supervisor, and is a 24-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office.
Surveillance cameras are located inside and outside of the courthouse. Fox 12 reported that it had requested copies of the surveillance video, as well as emails that were reportedly exchanged by the deputies who were involved.
A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office said, “We are working diligently to secure any and all information related to this matter and to identify any other employees who may have been involved.” He said that the agency was “working diligently” to obtain all of the surveillance video by early next week.
In a statement, Sheriff Roberts said:
“I take this complaint very seriously and can assure the public that we will investigate this quickly and thoroughly. If we find that employees have violated any law or policy they will be held accountable. Behavior like this, if true, is not acceptable and is extremely troubling.”
