Trophy Club, TX – A married middle school teacher and cheerleading coach was sentenced to six years in prison after she pleaded guilty to repeatedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old male student while she was pregnant.

Katherine Harper, 28, was arrested in April of 2017 and charged with having an improper relationship with a student, according to The Daily Mail.

Harper had sex with the student both at her home and the student’s home, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Harper was a seventh-grade English teacher and the 15-year-old was one of her students, according to the affidavit.

Harper and the student exchanged nude pictures of each other via their cellphones, the affidavit stated. The boy saved the photos to his phone.

Police got the photos when they seized the teen’s phone.

The police investigation stated the two communicated about 76 times while involved in an intimate relationship.

The teen told an investigator that he and Harper drank alcohol and then both took off their clothes and then the boy performed a sex act on Harper, according to the Fort Wayne Star-Telegram.

The two then had sex several times at each other’s homes in June and July of 2016. The school district received a tip about a possible relationship between the two but it was closed due to a lack of information, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

The school district reopened the investigation in December 2016 after they received another tip with much more information.

Harper pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault and one count of having an improper relationship with a student, according to the Denton County Attorney’s Office.

After she serves her prison sentence, Harper will be placed on 10 years of probation and will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of her life.
