Oxnard, CA – Professional boxer and Hollywood actor Victor Ortiz has been arrested on allegations that he forcibly raped a woman at her home in March.

Ortiz, 31, turned himself in at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s East Valley Station at approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the Oxnard Police Department said in a press release.

The former World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion, who has made appearances on “Dancing with the Stars,” “Southpaw,” “The Expendables 3,” and “Ray Donovan,” is scheduled to take part in a nationally televised match against John Molina Jr. on Sunday, ABC News reported.

Ortiz’s arrest on Sept. 25 was the culmination of an investigation that began on March 19, when a woman contacted Oxnard police to report she had been sexually assaulted inside her home, according to the Oxnard PD.

The Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit’s completed investigation was later handed off to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, and a warrant for Ortiz’s arrest was subsequently issued.

Ortiz was booked on charges of forcible oral copulation, forcible rape, and forcible digital penetration, according to the press release.

He was later released on $100,000 bond, ABC News reported.

Ortiz’s initial appearance has been scheduled for Oct. 10.

In July of 2015, Ortiz was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly assaulted a fan at a Kenny Chesney concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, USA Today reported.

He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of battery, and served three years on probation, according to CNN.

Ortiz was arrested for a DUI in 2016, and had a blood-alcohol content of at least .015 at the time of the offense, USA Today reported.

He received a sentence of eight days in jail and three years of probation for that offense, according to People.

Ortiz’s rise to fame began when he won the 2003 Police Athletic League national championship at the age of 16, USA Today reported.

He went on to compete in the U.S. Olympic boxing trials, but was eliminated.

At the age of 17, he began his professional boxing career, and went on to win the WBC welterweight title in 2011, CNN reported.
