Overland Park, KS – Two employees were shot at a Kansas elementary school on Tuesday morning, according to KMBC.

The Overland Park Police Department responded to a call at about 9 a.m. on July 3 for a double shooting at Sunrise Point Elementary School, located at 15800 Roe Avenue.

WIBW is reporting that two staff members were in critical condition following the attack.

Overland Park Police Public Information Officer/Media Relations Officer John Lacy confirmed that no students were injured, but said officers were responding to two additional scenes, KMBC reported.

WDJT reported shots were fired at an Overland Park car wash on Tuesday morning, but said no one was hurt.

Officer Lacy also said a later carjacking was believed to be linked to the suspect in the shooting at the elementary school. The car was described as a Black 2011 Denali with KS Tag 208BAB, according to WDJT.

Update:

Officer Lacy said at a press conference on Tuesday morning that police believe there was some sort of disagreement between workers of a company that was contracted to perform work on the playground at teh elementary school.

The victims were installing turf on the playground when the shooting occurred, he said.

There were no children at Sunrise Point Elementary School at the time of the shooting, police said.

KMBC reported that both gunshot victims were in critical condition.

Police said the suspect, whom they have not identified, tried to carjack someone at a car wash after the shooting but was unsuccessful. Then he successfully carjacked a vehicle from another location.

Officers were searching for the suspect in the neighborhood were the black SUV was abandoned, KMBC reported.
