Falmouth, MA – Two police officers were shot while responding to a disorderly call Friday afternoon at a home on Ashley Drive in the Seacoast Shores development in East Falmouth, WCVB reported.

Sources said that one of the officers had been shot in the back of the head, NECN reported.

South Shore Chatter reported that the other officer was shot in the chest and stomach.

Both officers were being transported to local hospitals. There was no word yet on their conditions.

Massachusetts State Police said a suspect had also been shot during the incident and had also been transported, according to NECN.

Two people were airlifted, and a MedFlight helicopter was seen landing at Falmouth Hospital, Cape Cod Daily News reported.

Residents have been told to shelter in place, and everybody else has been asked to avoid the area for the foreseeable future, according to Cape Cop Daily News.

Massachusetts State Police said their patrol, tactical, investigative and forensic units were responding to Falmouth to assist local police, WCVB reported.

It’s been a very difficult month for law enforcement in Massachusetts. These shootings come a week after the funeral of Weymouth Police Sgt. Michael Chesna, who was murdered responding to a call for an erratic driver.

UPDATE:

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe updated reporters on the condition of the officers. The officer who was grazed by a bullet in the back of his head has already been treated and released.

O’Keefe said that other officer was shot in the vest and just above the vest. His family was with him at the hospital.
